AHRC is announcing a multimillion-pound investment to support the launch of CoSTAR, a new creative facility for the UK’s renowned screen and performance sectors. We’re calling on researchers, in collaboration with creative industries partners, to apply to host this state-of-the-art facility through a new funding opportunity, which is open for applications until 2 February 2023.
CoSTAR — Convergent Screen Technologies and Performance in Realtime — will consist of a central hub and experimental studio fitted with real-time digital technologies. The central hub will be enhanced by a network of regional labs across the UK and supported by a data, insight and foresight lab.
With this model, it’s estimated that CoSTAR will generate a GVA of £40m per year, as well as creating more than 120 jobs directly and a further 400 through the new market opportunities CoSTAR creates.
